**** After 2 adventurous years as a 911 calltaker and dispatcher I have decided to go back to school. I still have a notebook of stories to share as well as good friends at the call center I left who keep me posted. The blog will continue as long as I have postworthy material :) Thank you to all my readers and to the officers, paramedics, fire fighters, and dispatchers who continue to serve the public in their hours of need.
I'm sorry if when told that there really isn't a fire, it was just a salamander, I immediately think of the GEICO insurance commercials. How was I supposed to know that a salamander isn't merely a small amphibian, but also a portable heater used at construction sites!

Talk about random. I would think the caller was crazy too.
Did you know floor buffers set off fire alarms too? I don't know how many times i've had to dispatch an engine to a doctors office or store 2 hours after they close because they are getting alarms from zone such and such
